All or Nothing 78
The feel-good movie of the year... that is, if you feel good in comparison to the grim, miserable working class. "Shut up!" "Fuck off!" "No, you shut up!" "Fuck. Off." There's just something about well-written, caustic spite. For me, the comic bleakness never wore out its welcome, probably because I can think of only one character who wasn't likeable. (The drunk.) I'm not a big Mike Leigh fan, but this one is why I'll finally rent the films that've been recommended to me time and time again, i.e., "Naked" and "Life is Sweet."

By the way, I docked it 9 points for grinding to a slow crawl with 30 minutes left. I definitely could've done without the flat attempt at emotional resolution. As Tim called it, "the unnecessary coda."
