Venus Boyz 50
The idea of drag kings is pretty fascinating to me. Actually, if I see anything about gender identity on TV, I'll watch it over and over. So I couldn't tell you why I never fully connected with this movie. All I can figure is, it felt removed... vaguely foreign, even. That, and it was a bit slow and aimless, which is probably my most common complaint with documentaries.

That said, the drag kings themselves are fascinating — strong and admirable, seemingly free of the insecurity I expected. Some of these women live as men on a daily basis, and their physicality really makes a case for biology not always determining your gender. A couple were so convincing that, when one would try to dress as a woman, I'd think to myself, "Oh, he *so* doesn't pass as a woman." And then I'd remember that he *is* a woman. For that alone, it's worth it.
