In a more cogent moment, however, he said, "The Democrats need to get more people out to vote. That's a big problem." And you know, I think he's right.

(Before I delve into this theory: Forgive me if it comes off as too simplistic or one-sided. What can I say? I'm not in the mood for an entirely unbiased viewpoint. The reality is, when choosing between the two parties, I go Democrat. But in a perfect world? The Green Party's got my vote.)

This election, terribly unsexy as it were, came down to one question: Would you still vote if your party wasn't giving you any reason to have conviction? The fundamental difference between the parties — the way I see it, anyway — might make Republicans more prone to answer "yes." Their cause is, inevitably, more selfish. Lower *my* taxes. Protect *my* country. Ain't no way they're not going to vote. They have something much too personal at stake. Namely, their wallets. It's all about the Benjamins, people.
